With an 8.9″ screen that’s full “web width” resolution, an Intel Atom processor, and a rated battery life of nearly eight hours, the 901 is a much more capable basic computer. In many ways, the 901 is the quintessential second-generation Eee PC, a direct extension of the concept that does away with many of the original’s shortcomings. The original Eee PC required some compromises in overall utility in order to meet its price point, but newer models have brought more functionality in exchange for somewhat higher prices. The Eee PC was an instant success for Asus, and the firm has responded by rallying around the concept with a whole line of Eee PC products. They’re portable, cute, simple to use, will let you access the ‘net on the go, and are cheap enough to be an impulse buy.

This slot does not have the PCIe Clock +/- signals so can certain PCIe devices operate without these signals? Can anyone confirm that on the 701? From what I have read, the 901 has SATA signals on the pins in question. So it appears that the pins in question are the PCIe bus. The results with the TX/RX pairs were confirmed with a desktop motherboard PCI Express slot. They are Pins 23+25 and 31+33, and I am not sure if they are SATA or PCIe signals.įrom what I know, I get an open circuit reading with the diode test function on a multimeter on a SATA host (motherboard) or SATA storage device, because these signals on both host and device have a series capacitor.Īlso, I get a reading on Pins 23 and 25 in the Eee PC with the diode test (PCIe standard RX- and RX+ respectively), along with Pins 31 and 33 showing an open circuit with the diode test. I have determined (and confirmed with another source) which signals are on the non-standard mini-PCI Express slot on the Asus Eee PC 701.īut there are two pairs of signals I am not sure of.
