The one thing that is scaring me away is the cost of additional channel strips is pretty darn high but man between the SSL-E and the Neve, what else would I want or need, right? So, if you have one, how often do you use it and do you pretty much put it on every channel and use it for all your basic channel dynamics, eq and saturation just like you would if you were completely "out of the box" on an analog console or do you just use it occasionally? How easy is it to bounce-out of the C1 screen and over to another plugin?Īlso, do you have a favorite channel strip plugin for it? Currently Softube is running a special where you get the Brit Class A (Neve) plugin for free in addition to the default SSL-E. I am also one of the "old-school" guys who learned how to record/mix on consoles to 2" tape back in the early 1980's so the hands-on aspect of it really appeals to me. I have really been liking the Waves SSL collection and have been using it pretty much exclusively for my basic channel needs lately.
Man I am really jonesing for a Console 1 and I am wondering who is using one with S1 and how well does it work for you? It is pretty hefty investment for essentially one plugin.
